Searching for some blue seat vinyl original

Hi, I'm working on an 18ft Sportsman preservation. Looking for some original blue vinyl seat upholstery. Yes, the same stuff that gets thrown away when the new interior goes in. Please let me know if you have some remnants or better yet, a full bench seat worth. I need it to do some repairs to my se...

Re: Engine Cover in '55 Sportsman with KLC

I'm probably late to the party with these picts but just incase you still need a visual. Original engine cover picts out of an 18ft sportsman, KLC powered since day one. No bump to clear a carb. However, you can clearly see where it's a tight fit against the carb as the original insulation has slowl...

Looking for a vintage oar hook to match my original

Hi, I'm getting an original 1954 18ft sportsman ready for a summer of enjoyment. Looking for a match to this oar hook. My boat is missing one, prefer a nice original part that is less than perfect.. not a rechromed/restored one. Measures 4 1/4 inch in length, approx 1" wide. Please let me know if yo...

Bilge Pump - Inline fuse a good idea?

Hi, Is anyone running an inline fuse in the positive wire that runs from the (+) battery terminal to the bilge pump? The Lovett installation instructions don't call for one but I'm wondering if it would be a good preventative measure to add one. What would be a good size fuse to use? My boat is stil...

Correct Intake Manifold for a 1954 KLC?

Can someone tell me if this intake manifold is correct for a 1954 KLC?

It has the option for a 3 carb setup (all of which are blocked off) as well as the single updraft carb mounting location.

Thanks,
Dustin

Thank you for the suggestions, carb is off, time to investigate. There is a blurb in my carburetor manual that reads "when installed in the carburetor the float bodies operate on both sides of the metering system. This design aids materially in maintaining the proper fuel level under high angle oper...

Idle speed changing - KLC

Hi, I'm trying to get my 1954 Sportsman up to snuff mechanically and running perfect. I am getting a variation in idle RPM depending on if the boat is leaning towards port or starboard side. The range varies from about 800-1500 depending on what side of the engine cover I'm standing on. When I say l...

K plug wires available at an auto parts store?

Hi,

Is there a set of plug wires for the K that I can get an auto parts store? Looking for something that's close in length, not concerned with cloth wrapped, concours type application.

I'm thinking that there is probably another straight 6 that's got to be close.

Thanks,
Dustin

Correct exeterior finish for a Zenith cast iron carburetor

Hi, my carburetor just came back from being rebuilt.

It's currently in a "raw" cast iron finish, no paint has been applied to it.

What look did these carb bodies have originally? What are the Concours restorers doing to make the carbs look correct in appearance?

Thanks,
Dustin

Also showed signs of previous attempted repairs which were marginal at best. There's also some repair work to the jet side ...

Looking for a Zenith Carb Part - Idle Jet

Hi, I'm trying to get my Sportsman up and running and need the following part. Please let me know if you have a carb core or this part separately. According to my zenith diagram, it's the "Idle Jet". Carburetor is a 11168C. It's off of a 1954 KLC. It's approx 3" long, brass tube on one end, threaded...

U-18-1152 barn find

Hi, I'm a new club member and the proud owner of an 18 ft Sportsman utility. This boat was put away into dry storage in the 1960s when the 2nd owner passed away. A family member handling the estate tucked it away back then (and had no interest in it because "boats are for fishin" according to the se...
