Re: Advice on trailer purchase

Check your state law for brakes and comply. LED lights. Extra tall bow stop. Mine is aluminum and galvanized. Never will have paint issues. Bearing buddies.

Re: Arizona storage

No idea about a dry climate but I would say you are better off with outside hull moisture. Build a couple troughs under the hull and keep them full of water. Better than wetting the floor. Still will be an uphill battle if your hanger has a concrete floor.

Re: Sloppy Steering

Okay so you turn the wheel and about 1/2 way before the steering linkage up front moves or the front linkage moves and the rear linkage doesn't move or all the linkage moves and the rudder doesn't move ? Trying to narrow down where the problem could be happening in the whole steering system. The mor...

Newest Issue - PC won't remember login

New issue to not respond to. Android works fine. When I use my PC (Windows) my login keeps disappearing so I cannot post.

Exhaust manifolds fail and get replaced and several of the well known parts sources sell the plates and will even stamp them for you.

Re: Bed decks and covering boards?

Sikaflex does not have the same adhesion properties as 5200. Use that for deck seams but not for bedding planks.

New Issue - Logged out on multi page posts

I have discovered a new issue with the Buzz. I am logged in and see my user name below the header photo on the right hand side. If I go to a post that has multiple pages of entries I am still logged in when I first enter the post but as soon as I click on another page my user name goes to "login" an...

Re: Bed decks and covering boards?

So I had this same debate with my restoration and the guilt of bedding all planks in 5200 knowing that the next restorer would not be able to remove the planks in one piece to use as patterns like I was able to do. In the end I bedded all planks in 5200 - including the deck planks. All new wood. To ...

Re: Battery cables

Jake, Before you purchase your battery cables you need to figure out the length, color and gauge of the wire. If you have a 6V system then you will probably need 0 gauge cables where 12V could use 1 or 2 gauge. A period correct wiring diagram should tell you what color for the positive and negative ...

I used the inflatable ones from Harbor Freight. I went over grass too and they worked great.

I used four for a 17 footer. Maybe use six for yours. I second the chocks.

Re: Propeller

I went the ACME route and they recommended a prop based on my boat size and engine type and horsepower. I was also pre-warned to order a stock prop so that it could be returned if there were any issues (custom ones are not returnable). That was some great advice as despite the pitch and diameter bei...

I don't have the markings with me.

Here is a pic of my setup. The terminal in the back goes to the starter (hard copper connection), the one on top goes to the starter button (green wire) and the one in front goes to the battery (black wire). The red wire runs power to the dash.

Sounds so simple. Right ? Well it is until you decide that knocking at 2500 RPMs under load is not acceptable and you want more and start messing around with prop sizes, distributors and carburetors. Let us know how you make out. I am still fighting performance issues but I can tell you that these e...

Another tell tale sign of a 5200 bottom (if done properly) is that you will see a small gap in between each of the bottom planks which is filled with 5200. An original bottom will just have the planks right up against each other.

My 1953 Rocket has inner plywood under the planking. Looks like "extra shaft nut and key" to me which would make sense as they could get lost off of the prop shaft.
