Re: Eizenglas encloser shrunken...???!!

I know what your boat looks like....I did a lot of work on one down in Wilmington, NC. Just wanted to see yours :D Did you get rid of your other cruiser?

Re: Eizenglas encloser shrunken...???!!

I would call a canvas "expert" and get their opinion...It may get easier to "adjust" when its warmer. Where a photo of that Scout of yours?

Any varnish from the major brands do just fine. If I had to pick the last quart of varnish in the world it would be Epifanes.

Mine were chrome also...The fix was to order some Stainless tubing and be done with it, not an issue worth fretting over.

Re: Hull I.d. Location?

My bottom will be getting replaced this winter...work done by Jerry LeCompte of Dockside Boat works. The estimate is on the lower side of your numbers that you threw out, but my boats frames and ribs are for the most part good and wont need replacing.

She looks good! That is a pre-war flag....Be careful with that white upholstery, its going to show everything!...I like to wipe the varnish down with a soft towel and a few shots of Windex.

Re: Hull I.d. Location?

Welcome Kevin...Attached is a pic of our 33 footer. Like Captain Nemo said...they randomly stamped the parts with your hull number. Look on all the hatches, door bottoms, and anything else that is a wooden part. If the boat has a title the only issue of not having the hull number would be not being ...

Whats happening now is its sat for 7 or so months...and growth and the such has help slowed the leak down. Your pumps when using the boat is going off more then you would want....These old girls move when motoring, so you get a few leaks from the planks moving....then the boat settles in after sitti...

5 gals every 24 hrs is really not much at all! Let it soak up and get out on the river! You will never stop all the small leaks on a batten built cruiser your size.

I would use the Sandusky golden walnut...Also keep in mind most varnishes will also add a bit of an amber tint.

Re: Chris-Craft Gathering

After much thought...We really want this to be a big event, and with that comes lots of planning. We are going to scrap the date for this fall, and start planning for either next spring or next fall (2016). What's everyone's thoughts on the time of year to have the event so we have maximum turn out?

Re: More wood rot repair questions

Then this is a good time to learn....Do the research and fix it yourself...It will be fulfilling to know you did it, and did it right. When you keep putting patches on these wooden boats it just makes it worse down the road.

Re: More wood rot repair questions

Forgive me if im sounding too harsh...But the repair that you are describing is very amateurish, and shouldn't be done. If you have found rot, that is deep...why wouldn't you replace the wood correctly and do it so that it will be structurally sound? The think you also have to keep in mind is that t...

Try Awlspar 3131....If you have a long day...Ive put on 3 coats before. Most of my brightwork is done with Awlspar, then top coating of Epifanes.

Re: '57 Constellation Refurb

Welcome to the club! We have a 58 35' Connie, but we never finished because we bought our 1940 33'. The stanchions are top screwed/bolted till you get towards the aft deck...then they get abit more tricky with the bolts being thru the bottom. I took mine off and got them powder coated.
