Re: Water Pump Rebuilding

Any luck?

I rebuilt mine over a year ago. Rebuild kits were not cheap but third of the price of a new one. I'll have to dig up the box of parts and re-research what I did... but I will if you still need answers.

Or better yet, upgrade to a 350 Chevy, same blocks, although the 327 is one of my all time favorite motors! Something about that small journal, short stroke 4" bore!!!

Re: Wood as a building material for skyscrapers

I don't think Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn counts as a good reference for building a cruiser.

Wood as a building material for skyscrapers

Interesting article on modern techniques for wood construction. If wood again becomes a viable material for construction, new boats can then be made entirely out of wood again. If that happens then a new interest in restoration of antique boats may vitalize our hobby! The Economist | Building materi...

Re: Two piece transom frame ??

Here's Cory clamping the sections of the aft deck in place.
20160327_134203.jpg
The pieces are cut at an angle tie-in and to support the ends of the curved deck planks.
20160327_174359.jpg
All the edges and end grain were treated prior to final fitment.

We can do the same for your boat... :D Thanks, but I'm on Bethel Island in the SF Bay Area. Place like Tahoe an...

Re: Two piece transom frame ??

We used African mahogany and Sapele. Mahogany was in short supply last year, so we went with Sapele on the hull sides. Sapele is harder than mahogany, but it looks real nice. All the Sapele is primed and painted.
