2014 Tahoe Concours d'Elegance

From the January/February 2014 issue of Classic Yacht Magazine: The Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation President is quoted as saying, " We want to thank Sierra Boat Company for the close working relationship and amazing venue over the past 20 years that helped solidify the spirit of the Concours. Unfortun...

Re: Customer Service – Bumped At The Hoist

When I first brought our U-22 home in January of '02, she hadn't been winterized so I immediately took her to the marina in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I'd done business for over thirty years (multiple MasterCraft ski boats, service, etc., six figures two times over and probably then some). The gu...

.....You could easily justify any dues increase by increasing the value of the service offered..... I really don't think that is fair to the regular/special contributors or editors of the Brass Bell. I'll throw in another question: Are the fumes on a larger cruiser a problem? Especially when sleeping in one of the staterooms? I imagine the first time I broach the subject and we actually take a look, my wife will raise the issue of fumes. She already does that when she sits in the front seat fo ...

It would seem to me that a poll of the members is the only way to find what holds the most value to the majority of people. It's a shame that it cannot be as simple as the recent survey online conducted by Hagerty. But, alas, that would neglect the members who are connected by a tenuous thread that...

It sounds like the Brass Bell has no value to you in any format offered. If it were available to you online, would you view it that way? Are there issues now available online which you have not received by snail mail and yet have taken the time to download and view?

Bill, First off, thanks to you and the others for all that is done on behalf of the CCABC. As you and I have discussed before, there is much that goes on behind the scenes of which many of the members are unaware. Your personal sacrifice (valuable time and other resources) for the quarterly publica...

It sounds like a vapor lock or fuel boiling situation. Trailer makes a HUGE difference

I have owned our '51 U-22 since 2001. I've always pulled it with a Ford 250 SuperDuty 4x4. However, it bears pointing out here that your trailer can make a huge difference in the performance of your tow vehicle. Before our boat was restored I towed it on a FLOAT-ON brand tandem trailer with wheels ...

Dan, welcome to the forum. You are at the best place to learn about your new purchase! Find the hull number on your boat and contact The Mariners Museum to get the hull card for your boat. I was told to put it in and pour water around the base of the wooden pole and it will swell and secure itself in the hole. I did this for each of the six seasons I hung the boat in my dad's boathouse, never removing the pole until winter storage, but wetting it each time I used the boat to keep the...

If you don't have your hull card you might want to order it from the Mariner's Museum. It should tell you what color of linoleum was originally put in the boat at the factory, among other things. Mine '50 U-22 had upholstery and flooring other than "standard": http://s2.postimage.org/354jltz6s/Hull...
