extended driveshaft housing
I got the first clip out of the snout end, but I am looking for a really deep pair of clip pliers for the deep one. The Sears one is too thick to get between the spline shaft and housing. The snout has some erosion on the bottom (deeper) part of the lip; perhaps 3/8" of aluminum is missing. However,...

Volvo Penta Drive Shaft Housing
I am restoring a 1977 Lancer. Bolted to the flywheel cover is the extended length drive shaft housing, with the Volvo Penta "snout" on it. There is some corrosion of the lip of the snout (the bottom, wide part)and the bearings are seized. Can anyone help me with removing the bearings/shaft? I have r...

Stringer construction, lag bolt installation
Thanks. I will fill the old mounting holes with epoxy. For the new mounting holes, I am thinking of drilling, running the lag bolt in to open it, removing the lag bolt, filling the hole with epoxy or Git-Rot, and redrilling prior to final installation of the lag bolts. Any opinions?

Stringer construction
I will be replacing the motor in my 1979 23' Lancer soon. I understand the stringers are fiberglass with NO wood core. What are the engine mounts bolted to? Is the fiberglass that thick a lag bolt will get a good bite in it? Robert Fierro (posts on this forum) has a 1969 Lancer with some sort of met...

Repower
I have been offered a free Chrysler 440 fwc motor. Could this be used in my 1977 23' Lancer 280B drive?

Re-powering Lancer
I, too, am repowering a 1977 Lancer (350 Chevy, Volvo 280). I am looking for a used fwc 350 motor. What year is yours? Is there an intermediate driveshaft housing attached to the flywheel cover (bell housing)? Or do you have a one piece Volvo flywheel cover/driveshaft housing. The flywheel itself ma...

Blue housing
Can anyone tell me more about the blue housing which fits between the transom shield and the bell housing. It is in the picture in dustoff135's posting. This a Chris Craft specific part? I assume there bearings and a shaft in there to be concerned with - lubrication, etc.? What is the screw for on th...

Well, we are gonna keep it. The only thing that my wife might find annoying is that the previous owner says you head stick through the hatch when on the porta potty!. He has picture of his sister with her head sticking out through the deck, on the potty, with everyone laughing at her! I will have to...

Some support would be great
I just picked up a 1977 Lancer for $400, to restore. The boat hauler - very experienced- says all old Chris Crafts are soft and he politely said I probable have significant rot/delamination regarding the stringers. As far as I could see, the transom and the stringers under the motor and in the gas t...

Lancer Shield
Hi everyone, I am purchasing a 1977 Chris Craft Lancer to restore. The ususal Chris-Craft is written on the side of the hull near the transom but there isn't a Lancer shield which I have seen on other Lancers. Can anyone tell me what years and/or models had this shield? Thanks Jay Berkowitz Port Was...

Volvo 280 with a Mercruiser engine
I am thinking of purchasing a 1979 Chris Craft Lancer. It has a 280 drive on it. I don't know yet what engine is in it (5.7 L I think) but it must be replaced. Could I mate the Volvo 280 with a Mercruiser engine? I know I have to check to see if it is a rear or front flywheel. I assume Mercruiser is...
