Re: Classic Chris on Mackinac Island

The Marion Leigh belongs to the Musser family from the Grand Hotel fame. It is a 1955 53' Constellation. The "Essential Guide" has a picture of the 53' Constellation without a hard top, but 42 of this model were built so I would guess that it must have been an option on this large of a boat. The 54'...

I would give Ryan Trailers a call in Portland. Little bit of a hike, but worth the trip. They are well versed in wood boat trailer construction.

Re: 1988 Chris-Craft Amerosport 320

there is a small forum on www.iboats.com. Maybe one of the owners on the forum would make a copy for you?? You may also try to discuss with a broker if you see one for sale on yachtworld. I would suspect a broker may help you out, for a small fee of course??? The only other option you would have is ...

Re: Barrel Back DOT COM is back up!

Don,

It will not allow me to add my hull #. It gives me an server error message when I try to submit my information. Also, you need to add model 104 and 105 to the 17ft. series. They are missing.

Once you fix that, I will add my #71769 to the site.

Thanks,

David De Horn

Re: Correct deck vents for 1940 17' Deluxe?

In addition to the 4 deck vents, and the fuel tank vent line terminating on the starboard side, starting with my hull #71769, the hole cut under the stern flag pole for ventilation was eliminated in lieu of the 4 deck vents. So, boats after 71769, will not have a deck hole vent cut under the stern p...

Where did you get your Aquamarine interior material? I have a 1941, 17 deluxe as well, and I am searching for the proper materials. Thanks, David

I would offer this advice. If your boat is under 20ft. you should NOT get a tandem trailer. The maximum load capacity for a single axle trailer is well above the loaded weight of a small runabout. It is critical that the weight of the boat "use" the springs and let the springs cushion the ride. If y...

Well, I think the Silver Arrow name would compliment the Silver Bullet name. Yes, they are close, and that is why they should use it.

Please use caution if you are using a wet-dry vac in the bilge of a gasoline powered vessel. Most if not all vac's are not ignition protected, and you may introduce the possibility of a spark. This could cause an explosion.

Keep this in mind for any tool you may use in the bilge or engine space.

Just a quick note to let everyone that did not attend the Muskegon Port City Vintage Boat Show this past weekend, it was a great success. Jeff Rogers did a great job coordinating this show, so hats off to Jeff. We had very COLD weather 55-65 degress, and a NW wind blowing at 20-25, but that did not ...

Matt, I have asked this exact question in the past. My boat has exactly the same thing. So, I guess it is good to know that it is "normal????" My 1941 17, is hull number 71769, the first one with the 4 vents, and the copper fuel line vent tube to the gas tank. The 4 vents don't help a bit. I just sa...

Deck Seam Painting Technique

Getting ready to paint the deck seams. Can I get a poll on what people do? How many of you have taped the seams, and how did that look?? Did you have nice crisp lines? Or how many of you use a Buegler line painter?
I know they are expensive, but are they worth it?

Thanks!

I have a 17ft. barrelback, and it needs a new bottom. I am planning a new bottom next winter. However, in the meantime, I am trying to squeak a couple more summers out of the bottom. Topside Finish Repair

I am hoping to get some suggestion on how to best repair a small spot on the top side of my boat. I sanded this area, but am having a terrible time tryin...

The production for Wellcraft has officially moved to Cadillac, Michigan. The plant is now referred to as Genmar Michigan since there are more than Four Winns built there now. Thanks for all of the leads. The 1939 GBOE brochure lists Miami Chris-Craft Co., Inc. as the dealer in Miami Beach. I did get an address of 1710 Purdy Avenue, Miami Beach, FL.

So, no names, nothing else. Maybe a dead end.
