Re: Chris-Craft Gathering at Walt Disney World

I'm with Ryan and John. I couldn't take my cruiser to Florida. I see that option is gone, so look to Virgina, Chesapeake Bay would be great, The Mariner's Museum is on the James River, not too bad a choice. There is a mariner's museum in Deltaville too!

You are right Garret, your windshield opener is different than mine. The one you have is more like a runabout. Thanks anyway.

I am still interested in pursuing the possibility of the spotlight though...

I am looking for a windshield "opener" for my 36' Crusader. You know, the sliding rod unit you use to push the windshield open and hold it there? I need the starboard side one.

Original Spotlight might also be of interest to me.

Thanks

Re: Parting out

I am looking for the starboard windshield opener gadget that you push and lock to open and hold open the windshield. I'm not sure if your boat even has that and if it does I might need measurements because the boat I want it for is a 36ft boat, so they may be different. I also have a friend who is i...

Well, I don't think it is a Connie, unless they built a plywood one that I couldn't find any info on. I think that bulging Blue area amidships on the topside might be a clue also. I don't think I have seen anything quite like that either. The number you posted... Where exactly was that found? Here's...

Found the Hull nr. but its barely readible. http://s14.postimage.org/swksujc4d/IMG_20120607_201604.jpg What i make out of it is: GX8-7899 or OX8-7897  Or Maybe CX9 or ??? Whatever it is, it does NOT appear to be the hull number. Wrong format. I searched the Chris-Craft Essential Guide Hull n...

OK, I give up. I've searched my book and I don't see it. I too agree that I think it is a Cavalier Division hull, but can't figure which one. I'm getting cross-eyed.. The closest I found was a 1969 33' Futura. Could be... Blue hull color is accurate for that boat. That boat had two 327Q engines. Hul...

This boat looks similar to my 67 36' Crusader, but its not a Crusader or a Connie as both have Planked hulls, not Plywood. Further the Crusader's helm is to port. I've got my trusty "Chris-Craft The Essential Guide" by Jerry Conrad out and I'm going to investigate some more. I'll report back what I ...

My boat is in Callao, off the Potomac River. We have several old Chris-Crafts at our marina.

As recommended, I contacted Robert Henkel and he was indeed very helpful. You've got to like a guy who tells you that you don't really need what you're trying to buy from him :-) I learned that the parts I was worried about are Bronze, so therefore nothing to be concerned about. I had been concerned...

Re: Add ON T-Stat

The engines are fresh water cooled. There is a water pump that I assume circulates the FRESH water. The exhaust is raw water cooled. I guess they that has a pump too. I'll look to see if I have better picture of more of the engine. Maybe in my survey... If I find something that I think might be help...

Looking For Thermostat Housings

The attached photos are the thermostat housings off my boat, which is a 1967 Chris-Craft Crusader 36'. The engines are Chevy 350 cid. Both are re-manufactured engines, one from Jasper the other from Blue Star (I think). The original engines in the boat were Chris-Craft (Chevy) 327s. These re-powers ...

Thanks for the info on the copper strap. I'll have to look for one of those.

Currently, there is indeed a stripped regular copper (insulated) wire, connecting the two pipes. I'll look for some copper strap.

Actually, the filler tubes connect to the tank via a rubber hose, which I also intend to replace despite the fact that it looks pretty good. Just better to be safe I guess. I took the original CC Gas caps with me today, and we did test the threads, and they are standard threads and will fit the new ...

Re: Fuel Fill Tube - Steel or Aluminum

I left my office and stopped at the gas station, where I had one of those Homer Simpson "Doh" moments. Of course, they need to be aluminum.... Steel can spark, aluminum can't. Found a source and will have two new aluminum fill tubes on Monday. My question about chrome plating them remains however. I...

Fuel Fill Tube - Steel or Aluminum

I am replacing the badly corroded fuel filler tubes on my '67 Crusader. I took the two 2' threaded ALUMINUM filler tubes to the local pluming supply and asked them to duplicate what I had. I got back two 2" STEEL threaded nipples of the same length. I had planned to have the new ones chromed. Can I ...

I have a similar situation. Whilst having transmission problems, in a strong wind, we got blown into a bulkhead that had large protruding bolts. Couldn't get her off of it... So, Jeremy, what did you with your guk'ed up tank?

Can these tanks be "repaired" or rejuvenated, or should they simply be replaced with modern plastic tanks that don't have these kinds of issues?

I was rather hoping to see some discussion on this topic. My 36' 1967 Crusader has 2 87 1/2 gallon galvanized tanks. Apparently the galvanization is flaking off. I get a lot of sandy looking gunk in my fuel filters. I have been considering what I'm going to do about it, and would appreciate others f...
