Re: Polishing stainless steel cutwater, transom bands and rub rails

Easiest way is to take it to a chrome plater. Otherwise screw it to a 2X6, Put a buffing disc in a skilsaw and do it yourself.

Look at the plumbing on the top of Jim's engine. Yours should look like that.

Any chance you have the bow pole for that boat? If so could you post a photo of the mechanism that holds it in the light please.

Hi Ray, Seems like you have been pretty thorough with your diagnostics. One thing that might be suspect is the pertronics unit, you might want to swap that out with traditional points. Might be worth a try?
Sounds like a good place to start. Points and the original coil.

Where I live the engine temp never gets over 100 till fall. First thing I would do is remove the bulb from the cylinder head and warm it up with a hair dryer.

Bill, If they were original they would be 65 years old. At that age they would have wear marks. (I do) Get a piece of wood thicker than the letters. Tape it to the hull where you want the letters. Set the letters on the wood and tap them with a leather or wood hammer enough to leave a ding in the hu...

Re: Help identifying boat

Looks pre-war to me. Look around the engine opening or on the engine hatch. Engine stringers too. Engine could have been changed or could have been a ford flathead V-8, Rare but some had it.
