Ditto what Greg said. Also has nicer hardware and leather interior compared to the Riv.

Re: 1950 U18 rub rail trim

The big issue with the trim is it shipping. It usually has to go semi truck. Get a shipping cost before you order.

Dis-Connect the tachometer cable from under the distributor and see if it goes away.

Personally I'd go with an M series Chris-Craft. Most had K series and they seem under powered to me.

Add it under the profile tab. Edit Avatar. It has to be really small. 100X100 pixels or smaller

Re: KLC to KBL conversion

KLC, KBL, and KFL are basically the same with different carburetors
Your boat probably started life with a smaller engine and at some point in time it was given a boost.

Plate on top of the transmission says it is Engine #H10573
Different stamped markings on the engine block : A600. 11-12-56. 75001. 75039
Stamped tag on the carburetor shows 12055B
H10573 makes it a 1957
12055 carb is from a Chris-Craft KFL

Re: KL generator to alternator swap

Pat Crusse makes a bolt on kit. I have used Delco-Remy 10SI one wire marine alternators. They take a lot of machining to get them to fit including modifying the front motor mount. Might be worth checking in to adding a pulley to the front of the flywheel.

Re: Dwell Angle for KLC

All the manuals I have give a gap of .022" No conversion to dwell. Possibly too new of a measurement.
I'd replace the coil to distributor wire, or bypass it with a jumper lead. See if it helps.
Remember after setting points you have to set the timing again :D

Re: 1937 17' Deluxe strut

Here are three K series elbows together.
To port on the left is for exhaust pipes with a single bend.
To chine in the middle is for three bend exhaust pipes.
Between stringers on the right is for utilities.

It's normal. There is a small jet on the suction line in the tank. You are sucking air through the jet.

Re: Rebuild or Repower

My opinion is if you are going to boat local stay with gas. If you are going to boat long distance go with diesel. Staying with the 430 vs say 454s? I'd have the 430s opened up and get a quote first.

Jim,
Were you lost? Are you sure you were under the correct boat? 6005 is for a 17' Sportsman and several Cavaliers. Pre-War would be a smaller number.
I probably have a 6005 if you want to try it.

A lot of them. Not all. They were originally sold pre-cut. I have the blanks too but trying to see if I have an original. ALL of them are obsolete.
