I am just about to start doing my 20 coats of varnish and wondering if I should varnish over the pained portions on my 17 foot ski boat. Or mask them off for future touch up??

Re: Water Pump Rebuilding
I have since found out it is a sherwood and is a Chrysler Double pocket pump. Have all the parts except for the 5/8 seals(2) to go between two chambers. Anyone know of numbers for these - don't show on Sherwood schematics.

Drilling Camshaft??
I noticed a few postings regarding this modification. I know that my engine was changed by my father and have looked at the 1998 work orders. I see nothing that indicates that this was done. I am in the process of putting the engine back in after sitting flat for 15 years. I decided to look into the...

Size Does matter!!
I am finally going to try to find some planking for my 17' CC SkiBoat. I have asked this question before but.... I have procrastinated on either planing down 3/4 or getting 4/4 or 6/4 resawn. Cost Difference/Savings?? What is the original thickness of the hull bottom planks? It looks like mine are 3...

All your input is fabulous and I think I am just selling myself more on the idea that it is a larger style batten. it is cut from a 3/4 x 1 3/4" peice of mahogany.(Not Oak as suspected - funny what a little bit of sandpaper can find out) The breaks are jagged enough to slide the ends together and I ...

Windsheild
Hi Lori, I have the same year ski boat as you and it has a two piece glass windsheild that I have gingerly stored away in a safe place. I just joined this forum and have been following your posts since you first were looking at interior colour choices. ( I did send a post earlier - looks like it wen...

Wood Commander, Thanks for the feedback, I may have not been so clear about the broken frame. it is not the main chine. it is the smaller thinner one running parralel with it. Do your comments still apply? I think the peice was broken by a lifting strap many years ago, The other side is fine. it is ...

I have a 17 foot ski Boat and have stripped the bottom and replaced most of the mid vessel frames. I have a couple of questions that I cannot find in the Danenberg Bible "How to restore your Wooden Runabout" Firstly I am at an impass as to how to buy the planks. Do I get 1" stock and try to get it r...
