XK19
I finished a complete restoration of a 1971 XK19. Of course the original boats all had the gel coat the color of the boat. If it was painted you can look in an area that has the original color. You can either re-gel coat or paint the original color or color of your choice. The engine is painted Chri...

hinges
I just finished a restoration on my '71 XK 19. Yes the hinges are automotive. I actually think they are from a Chevy Impala but I'm not 100% sure. My hinges were actually bolted to the deck, a weak area that always showed signs of cracking. I used a polished piece of stainless on the deck to reinfor...

V drive vs I/O
I recently completed a total restoration of my I/O xk19. If you are the least bit mechanically inclined the I/O is easy to rebuild because most parts are readily available and not as expensive to acquire. I'm sure in either case though your personal preference will prevail. The I/O is very fast and ...

1971 XK19 Restoration
The restoration is in the assembly stage!! The gel coat looks terrific and the chrome has been replated. I rebuilt the 350 and I'm ready to reinstall. There is an aluminum cradle the engine sits upon (motor mounts fasten to the cradle), the cradle rests on the stringers but there is no bolting, etc....

xk 19 restoration
Sorry about all the questions but I'm about to undergo a complete restoration of my xk 19. I've heard different opinions about whether you should paint or reapply gel coat. I plan to use the boat as often as possible. The current gel coat is in very good condtion with a couple minor spider cracks. I...
