I purchased 16' for my boat, but if I was to do it again I would scarf the sheets of ply myself.
I'm not positive but I think it was Boulter Plywood Corp.
funny thing one side was originally butt joined the other was scarfed...

So if you are getting spark, timing is not 180 out..
Are you trying to start on 6V? I found that to start mine I used a 12V battery to power the starter to get that extra vvvvvvvvvvvv to start.
I also found that the float was out of adjustment and was too rich and made a hard start...

Why wait to be a boatwright?
You have to make another temporary repair now
Its not going to get any easier to fix
Your boat is on a trailer most of the time
A Danenberg bottom would give better service
I think its time for a new bottom now,
oh Boatlife has a "mahogany" colored caulk too, ...

I think you would then have room to use a gear puller to remove hub. Al the hammering shock is being absorbed...

Or you can look at the generator a converted generator will have an extra field and the wire will be on generator, or there may be a resistor on coil. if it still has the 6V coil, Parts are hard to find but I think are worth the effort. Mr B, Jerry Biro and Scripps have B parts. Also if you have any...

I think a price for the Iron would depend on the location... shipping something that heavy is pricey.
I do the ebay search and check often for Model A engine parts ... but they are always too far away to pick up .......

Be very carefull NOT to sand through the veneer....
Its easy to do especially near corners.
I would even say try the 120 grit first, especially if the finish is already thin.
(you can't unsand the wood)

An INCH ? Yes you have something amiss for sure!
Misalignment is measured in thousands of an inch.
Either something is loose, bent or something!
