Replacing a wiring harness
I have a '59 17' Ski/Utility and the wiring is pretty simple but the harness itself is in "meh" shape. Several of the wires are too short, I don't really trust the insulation on any of them, and ideally I'd like to put a modern fuse block in as opposed to the older inline fuses. I have the wiring di...

Propeller repair recommendations
I recently purchased a 1959 17' Ski/Utility with the 283 engine (rebuilt and bored out to approximately a 298) with a 13RH12 Ni-BrAl propeller. The propeller has some nicks along the edge and I'd like to find out if it can be cleaned up and if the folks here can recommend a shop. https://i.imgur.com...

Re: 1959 283 Tachometer off by 30%
Yep - I'm familiar with the adapter but did not know what ratio I should find or that it would be marked. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Does anyone know what the ratio should be for this engine?

1959 283 Tachometer off by 30%
I recently bought a 1959 Ski Boat with the flywheel forward 283. Carburetor needed a complete rebuild and tune and I took care of that- but the boat did not seem to be moving as fast as I would have expected for the RPM I was seeing. In order to fine tune the carburetor I brought out my digital timi...

Re: 1961 17' Ski Boat configuration questions
I'm with Jim on the bow eye, not standard. I would get the hull card from MM and then decide if you want to restore to original or make it look like your fathers old boat. Step pads, cleats, lights, were all added by the dealers usually if not on the build sheet. It's up to you after you get the bu...

Re: 1961 17' Ski Boat configuration questions
I don't know anything for sure but I would guess that those three strips got knocked off the first time the driver came in for a hard landing and they were never replaced. I would think they wouldn't be too hard to duplicate. I figured that was probably the case but wanted to ask the experts. I am ...

1961 17' Ski Boat configuration questions
My father used to own a 1961 17' Chris Craft Ski Boat that he bought from a friend of his who purchased it new in 1961. I'd like to restore a similar 1961 and give it to him as a gift. With that in mind- I have a ton of questions about trim and other bits on the boat that seem to vary wildly among t...
