Ultra rare Italian built Cutlass 20

Postby Paul P » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:13 pm

Hello all,

From time to time I get email from people who are hunting for a fiberglass Sea Skiff or the corresponding model they built with the same basic hull under the Corsair Sea-V name plate. Naturally I do what i can to help hook up a good boat owner with a good boat.....but here is a real oddity that has surfaced....(drumroll please).......in Croatia.

And Here

I have been in contact with Dick Avery, Herb Pocklington and Chris Smith about this boat. As I understand it, Herb does remember it and said it was produced for two years, did not sell very well but served as a place holder and as a bridge product. It has the same basic hull underneath as the highly respected XK-19 and Commander SS, the motor is basically there but it will need a ttention to say the least. The 19' hull really appears good. I don't think there are any of these in the US or Canada. If anyone might be more crazy than me when it comes to boats, and would just not be able to live without this rare boat as a tender for your yacht, or just to have the only one of it's kind anyone has ever seen, send me a note and I will hook you up with the owner. He says he has more than he can handle and he wants to get the boat into hands who will appreciate it. Naturally it will require shipping from Croatia,a nd I have no idea what that would entail. I do have more photos if anyone is interested. Needless to say, you would never "see youself" boating out on the water in this thing. Designed and built for the Italian lifestyle!!

best,

Paul

It appears to have a much deeper draft than the SS or the XK-19, is the bottom the same just with deeper sides?

It is actually the same hull as the 19' Lancer, 19' Commander Super Sport, and XK-19

Herb built them in Italy, the particular style did not compete well back then and it did not make it to a third year of production. As a result, this is a rare one! Mechanically and hull, basically a poor mans Commander SS. One thing for sure, you come tooling into the restaurant waterfront docks on North Lake Tahoe in this thing, nobody but nobody on that lake (or anywhere else in North America) has ever seen one of these! 8)

Here is the comparison with the XK-19, exact same wetted hull.

CC used what is referred to as "shoebox construction", which means the top of the box was placed on the bottom section, and CC changed the box top on this hull bottom, and essentially made a new baot model for two years.
