Trying To Find A Part

Post by Stovebolt » Fri Mar 25, 2011 2:43 pm

Hey all, I'm not sure if I'm in the right section for this, and I'm sure the powers that be will move it to the appropriate section if it isn't.

I'm in search for a horn button for my '61 Ski Boat. I know that is a '58 Chrysler wheel and horn button, but I have had no luck on Ebay or local.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks for looking folks!

Call CCABC member John Lahti. You can look him up in the member directory on the home page or in the ACBS

Chrysler Wheel

Post by evansjw44 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 8:54 am

If this is a Chrysler wheel try looking in Hemmings Motor News for the part or a supplier. Thre's lots of vintage car support in Hemmings. Too bad their boat support is so minimal.

Post by Captbob626 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 7:06 am

Are you sure that is a chrysler wheel and not a Ford?

Yah, It's even listed on my build sheet as a Chrysler wheel. I had a buddy of mine who is big into Mid - Late 50's, early 60's Mopars and he was positive that it was a 56' Dodge Custom or Lancer.

So I have been on the search. I will call Mr. Lahti in the am, when I'm not at work. Fingers crossed!

Tyson: For my 1959 Sea Skiff I had to track down my steering wheel, also. I did a search on "Google" for steering wheel restoration firms. Many of them have pictures with descriptions of their work. I found that my steering wheel and horn ring were from a 1951 - 1954 Chrysler New Yorker, Windsor and Newport. The horn button was from a 1955 and 1956 Plymouth.

I then saved a search on eBay for those items and over a few months several popped up. Also, Al Schinnerer in California posted all the Mopar parts numbers on Boat Buzz. I now have a complete extra set of everything.

Thanks for the info Frank! I will start Googleing now. Capt Bob could be right, and I'm way off with what it is. I'll definatly take your advice and do the search.

Tyson, I think Captbob626 is on the right track. Here is a picture of a 1959 Thunderbird horn button:

I did a Google search using the Images option.

Hmmmm, the plot thickens...........

Hey, I tried searching for those Chrysler #'s you were talking about, but didn't have any luck. Don't suppose you have a better idea of where they are?
