Changing of the Guard.

Post by tkhersom » Mon Feb 06, 2017 8:43 am

Hi Gang:

Stopping in to update you on the current happenings with the CCABC Board of Directors.

Due to some life challenges Director and former President Al Benton chose to resign his position on the BOD. We thank Al for his years of service to the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club. He will be missed, but we hope that he will have more time to get back to commenting on Boat Buzz.

Thanks go out to long time member Paul Pletcher for being willing to step into the open position left by Al's resignation. Paul was appointed to the Board of Director in January by a unanimous vote of the remaining directors and will remain there until 12/31/2017.

I would also like to thank Tyson Konecny for being willing to fill in the vacant position. Unfortunately due to a communication error on my part, the vacancy was filled before I was certain that Tyson was willing to take on this challenge.

When a group of us took over the Club a few years ago, it was on the verge of collapse. Of course, the membership is the key element of the club. The membership list was in disarray, there were hundreds of people who hadnt paid dues for years, but were kept on the rolls, it wasnt clear who had been billed for renewal or not, or whether in fact some had paid, Addresses were not up to date, and it was difficult to assemble an accurate mailing list for the Brass Bell, itself over a year behind in publication. In short a mess of large proportions. (Not to talk about all the other ones.) Al immediately took on this task and over the next several months sorted thru all these challenges and with good help got the entire membership system back in shape. Since that effort he has made many other contributions to the continued success of the Club. He deserves thanks from all of us for his work, and best wishes as he leaves the Club better for his having been there.
