What to do with old engines after repower?

Keeping your powerboat under power is a lot easier with good advice. Post your power systems questions here.

What to do with old engines after repower?

Post by hill160881 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 12:51 pm

I am repowering and refitting my 1961 50' coni and would rather not part these out on evilbay. I can think of no place to try and sell these that anyone in this small community will see them if I simply list them on evilbay or Craig's list. I really don't want to scrap them. Any suggestions? Are they worth anything?

They are the original cc 430s (Lincoln 430) with 2000 hours. The transmissions are hjc 2.5:1 paragons. One side is reverse rotation. Both functional running and driving.

You are repowering for a reason, right?
And you are looking for someone to take over feeding these gashogs.... ;)

You could list them in our Trading dock. that engine was used for a time in some of the runabouts, too, so perhaps there would be someone out there wanting them for parts if nothing else.

They are tired and to rebuild them is getting more and more expensive to do it right and there is nothing I can do about there fuel use. I am just over carberated engines. Cranking for ever and ever. The manifolds were over 5 grand alone when I could find two pairs.

I have a new set of remaned crusader 8.1 capitans choice on the way with new zf63a transmissions to attach to them. Engines will be here by the end of January and the engines/trans will be available then. So I am unsure if I should list them now or wait.

I will also be selling the original instrument cluster.

Any idea on value on any of it.

You might look at listing them on Hemmings Motor News. Those old dogs could fit right into an old Lincoln or Thunderbird.

Put them on Trading Dock and WoodyBoater classified. You might also want to call Jim Staib @ Fine Wood Boats. If he does not want them he may know who would be looking for them.

Good Luck! :D

I'm sure somebody will want them. I searched for a long time and found an identical pair in a salvage boat last spring. They are classic and strong motors. I'd be very interested in the instrument cluster! Contact me via email: [email protected] Thanks
