PreWar Fuel Tank

Postby Roger Smith » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:02 pm

When there is no fuel gauge sending unit installed on the 33 gallon prewar fuel tank, does anyone know the size of the plug that would go in the hole? Recently removed an old sending unit and want to close the hole, which I believe to be threaded. Any help appreciated!

My 33 gallon pre-war tank had 3 fittings; 3/4" for the fuel pickup, 2" for the center fill pipe, and 3/8" for the vent, all NPT.

Hole for sender is not threaded and I'm not sure how you can plug it. Best to put a sender back in it to properly cover the hole.
