Nautolex ...... ( R I P )

Word on the street, Nautolex is out of production.

I've used a lot of the product, very good for panelized floors where you can tuck the edge over and staple with monel staples. This happens to be the old style teak color, but I've used white too as I suspect many of you have too. Guess we'll have to find another "old standby".

best,

That's disappointing news. I suppose it's the old "supply and demand" story that ended its production.

I used the white stuff on the forward deck on the cruiser several years ago, still looks good. Chris-Craft used mahogany color in the cabin floor and teak color on the aft deck on my 1960 cruiser. The original mahogany stuff still looks to be in fair condition but the aft deck took a beating. Got some old stock teak Nautolex from Jim Staib that will be installed on the aft deck this summer.

I too am sorry if that proves to be true. That stuff was OK on the deck in the fuax plank pattern, but I never liked working with the smooth white on cabin tops etc.
I know guys that swear by some new age product that was used for tonneau covers on pickups????
But if the old white plank version is gone...that is a problem.

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone pick it up as a repro, but I agree, bad news. I still have about ten yards or so, but that ain't much

Thanks For The Tip

Postby evansjw44 » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:06 am

I want to thank u'all for the tip on the disappearing Nautolex. I plan on re-covering my hard top and had no idea Nautolex was getting scarce. I did the search and found Defender Marine. What they had looked a lot like I need. But on a hunch, I went to my local marine supplier and they had part of a roll. I had them pull off what I need and I'll stash it till I'm ready to do the work.
