Hull Numbers for 1955-1956 Capri 21'

Can someone tell me at what Hull ID number the Chris Craft Capri 21' changed from 1955 to 1956. I own number CP-21-087 and it was delivered 10/11/1955 and it is registered as a 1956. I find hull numbers above mine that are shown to be 1955 models. Any help would be appreciated.

First, Welcome to Boat Buzz and to the Club. It's great to have you aboard.

Your Capri would be a 1956 model year. Chris-Craft typically changed the year model in October, sometimes earlier. You would have to see all the hull cards near your number to see which would have been the last 1955 model to leave the factory. Other owners with higher numbers may have registered theirs to match the delivery date listed on the hull card rather than the actual model date.

CP-21-075 was the first 1956 model, shipped 8/15/55. This boat (and those numbers that followed) incorporated all of the new 1956 features - most notably the red/black upholstery, two hatch handles, etc.

A lot of people think there shipping date on the their hull card denotes the model year, but it does not. Like Al said, without seeing the entire production run (which was published a few issues ago in the Brass bell for the 21' Capri's) it is difficult to know.
