Bedding shaft log

Post by Kerry Price » Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:35 pm

I'm getting ready to install the shaft log onto my 19" runabout. It had been previously installed with a (cork?) gasket and some type of bedding compound. I happen to have some Sikaflex 291 LOT handy and wondering if this would be a good product to use for this installation. I know others have used 3M 5200 / 4200 and I've also seen some folks using Boatlife caulking but if the Sikaflex is as good I already have it. I'd also like to hear what is being used to bed the strut.

We use BoatLife to bed most under water hardware but SikaFlex will work just fine.

Hey Michael. Thanks for responding. Do you use the Boat Life: Life Caulk, or Life Seal?
