Steering Wheel 61 Capri

Post by Peter McBratney » Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:39 pm

My 61 Capri rebuild will soon be complete but I need some advice on the steering wheel. See photo attached.

I can refinish the black surround Ok, but have two issue to overcome.
Firstly, the chrome is pitted and I cant find a solution to that. Suggestions?
Secondly, the horn ring is broken on one side. Are there replacements anywhere or can anyone suggest a fix?

Advice much appreciated

I believe a good chrome shop can do a remarkable job with that level of pitting. You may want to try Aluminum wool in prep to the chrome shop.
The broken area could be soldiered before chroming, as mine was broken similar.

Many thanks for the advice

I will take it to the chrome shop that did all my hardware.
