Boot Stripe Colors

Ok so I just scored a pristine condition 1951 Chris Craft Brochure from ebay. In looking through it it looks like the Boot Stripe on my model boat is white over some dark color (RED?) then the copper bronze bottom. I had always believed my stripe was just white. Is there some resource or does someone here know what is correct? My boat is a 1951 Chris Craft Holiday 19'. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the Essential Guide the waterline on that boat was painted white. On some models they had them painted red and white , as what appears in your brochure.
Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.

I dont know the specific answer to this question, but you have to be careful to avoid taking Conrad totally at face value. he did a tremendous job and deserves a lot of thanks, but in some cases the information either is not accurate or maybe only partly accurate. An example as to boot stripe--he says the 37-39 deluxe runabout has a white boot stripe. I have the shop memo, however, that indicates this and a number of other boats switched to aluminum color in late '36 for the '37 and following on models. So it is one very good resource but not the "bible."

Lower color is red. The red/white scheme was popular with a number of models of the period. I have a vague memory of the colors being switched from top to bottom on some (year) models but without research don't take my word for it. I have never seen an original blonde holiday without two tone stripe. Nice boat, by the way. Ditto comments on Essential guide. Great reference, however, not perfect. Trust but verify.

I was about to make a new post this morning on this very topic so I hope it is OK to add my inquiry to this thread. I have a 1938 19' Sportsman that has a red bottom and white boot stripe. Both are wrong. The bottom I know should be copper bronze and the boot stripe should be green. I have the bottom paint issue solved but hoping someone out there has some information on the correct shade of green for the boot stripe.

Cool, Kerry. Tell your friends who are not members yet, and please do post us some pictures of your boat once you get it the way you want.

Looks like a good time to revive this thread also. Anyone know the proper boot stripe width and color for a 1947-54 U18??
