Thank you for your reply. I have been doing a ton of research and reading. What I'm finding with stain, sealer and varnish is what I found when I purchased my welder. Buy quality but everyone likes a different brand. I haven't come across anything that says it isn't compatible. It seems a lot of folks swear by cpes. I'm open to other brands as well. From what I have read folks also like Epifanes varnish. Thinking 6 coats of the epifanes wood finish gloss and 3 coats of epifanes clear high gloss. I'll keep looking and reading. This has been fun so far. But I don't wanna screw up and have all the work go to waste.

You can move stain with CPES if you are not careful.

If you apply it carefully and gently you will be fine. You will see a small amount of color on the brush when you are done and that is normal.

As was mentioned make sure to let the stain dry first.

Good Luck

Mark

Wife and I stained the Continental yesterday. Took approximately 6 hours. We both are super happy with the color. My wife's grandfather Pepe is really excited, told me that people (his kids and friends have been following my progress via Facebook) are telling him he gave the boat to the right person. It means a lot when you start to get the approval from the old man regarding his boat he's had since 1970. He told my wife, when your done finishing it park it back in my garage would ya hahaha. I told him he may have gifted it to me but it's his boat still.
He's also surprised that I've gotten this far. I think he wasn't sure when I'd get to it. When he gifted me the boat I told him once I get it off the trailer I'm going to spend all my free time on it. So far so good. I appreciate everyone answering my questions when I post them.

Well it's done, a lot of long nights. We started mid May. Going to do the big reveal on Wednesday to Meme and Pepe ( my wife's grandma and grandpa who gifted us the boat). Super excited to take it out. Thanks again to all for the encouragement and advice! Here is a few photo's to enjoy.

Thanks everyone. Pepe was thrilled to see his boat refinished. It exceeded his expectations, he loved it. I was super proud to have his approval. I gave him the honor of the first drive. After all it may be my boat but it will always be his.
