What do you recommend cleaning a KL carb filter with, type of detergent or degreaser?

Are you referring to the rectangular flame arrestor that mounts to the carb air intake ?

I clean mine by removing the brass screen from the housing and spraying with brake cleaner. If you have a compressed air source, blow out any loosened grime that the brake cleaner softened.
