Clutch problem ?

Post by david.peat » Thu Oct 01, 2020 12:00 pm

Hello all, Have had the runabout for a few weeks now and desided to dry start the engine and all seems good except for the mouse that seems to be coming from the propeller shaft ? but my question is that I supposedly had the drive in nuetral which I thought would mean that the propeler shaft would not be going round ? if I put my foot on the gear box output then the shaft stops.
Is this a clutch problem if so can I adjust it.

The mouse wanted to be fed  They like WD40 or any lubricant where the shaft goes through the strut. You are not supposed to have a distinct neutral. forward and neutral only. Never leave it running in the water without someone behind the wheel.

Hi drrot, thanks again, have lot of WD40 so will give that mouse a good soaking.with regard to the neutral does that mean it's reverse and thats the reason to always have someone behind the wheel unless we turn the engine off ?,

Its normal. Water also keeps it from squeeking. And Drot is right. They will move on ya. And start in gear as well. It will move while up on land. BTW, when running it on land. Make sure you have water in a 5 gallonbucket with a hose running from it to the water pump. Let the waterpump suck in the water. No direct hose to the pump, or you will have a mess. Water in your oil.
