Fuel Gauge Accuracy - 1960 Chris Craft Capri

Post by sproat3 » Sat Sep 28, 2013 10:47 pm

My 1960 Capri fuel gauge shows 3/4 full when the tank is full and 3/8 full when the tank is empty.
It has a 20 gallon round tank so I know I won't be able to get totally accurate readings, but I know it can be a lot better.
Any suggestions on a replacement fuel sender unit or a way to calibrate the fuel gauge to get the readings more accurate to actual fuel levels?
PS: I do have a stick that works

Remove the sender and calibrate it with your stick. You can bend the wire to get full and empty. Half should be accurate too.
