Rule bilge pump wiring

Post by gallagh59 » Wed May 12, 2021 5:49 pm

I'm pulling out my hair trying to wire this Rule-Mate 800 GPM Automatic bilge pump. I'm using a Cole-Hersee (Littlefuse) push-pull switch with three positions (part # 831); Off/On/Automatic. The switch has three connectors (screw) on the back and has four letters; A, B, R, and H. The three wires coming out of the bilge pump are Black (ground); Brown w/white stripe and Brown (solid). I can get the bilge to run in manual mode but cannot get it to work in Automatic mode. Any suggestions?

Was the pump in enough water to make it go on?

Make sure you have power. It should be hooked directly to the positive battery terminal, then turn the pump upside down and it should turn on. Some pumps though need an external float switch.
