Is this a Yale jr ignition switch. There is no visible markings. My 1939 CC delux utility hull card specifies The Yale switch. If it is any direction towards a key would help. The hull card says the key is RM14. I have found some mention of the Yale switch within this archive and antique auto forums but no pictures.
Thanks
Joe

No. It is a generic switch.

Hi Joe, YALE made most of our ignition switches. I am looking for a reference photo for you. The earlier ones can have a honeycomb detail. But this way beyond my pea brain. I would say as well, that many of us have new switches since its a safety thing while out on the water, but if you want to dive deep into perfection it would be nice to know exactly what you are looking for. this is the one on my 1948 and still had the YALE Key in it.

No key expert but I think until the later 30’s cc generally used the clum switch and then migrated to the Yale. Calif. classic boats,I think, makes reproduction Yale ignition lock set ups.

Probably should add that I think the change to Yale related to changes from instrument panels to individual gauges.

Thanks for your help guys. This switch came out of the original dash. I have seen some vintage NOS Yale ignition key/ tumbler assemblies on eBay but I wasn’t even sure if this was a Yale switch to begin with. I’m not intent on restoring my boat to a perfect original condition. Just trying to keep it close , safe and functional.

Don is correct. Your Hull card will tell you what brand you have. I went out and looked at my 1937 which on the hull card says Ckusss@%.. HA, so I assume its Clum Clumbe. Very simple and round. The original is below the newer one installed 60 years ago.

This is a Yale switch. The key slot is straight.

This is a Clum switch. The key slot is zig zag.
The larger Clum switch Matt is showing is an earlier model.
