Hi All
Rescued a 1963 CC Cavalier Futura 26' earlier this year from a farmyard and have way more questions than answers. (Boat name "PROJECT” listed in the Hull Registry.) Not trying to restore to show condition as original motor and vinyl decking are long gone. Still, would like to get it back on the water as a recognizable CC.
Forward hatch is missing. Opening is 18.50" by 18.25" OD, 16.75"x16.50" ID, coaming lip is 15/16" high. Appears original cover had rounded edges, extended approx. 1.75" past outside of the coaming. Was secured by 5 screws at back of hatch, appears to have had a struts on each side to hold the hatch in an open position.
Does anyone have this boat (or similar model) and can send me a picture of the hatch? Or, any ideas how to build one?
Many Thanks,
Duane

Re: Forward hatch cover for CC Futura
I have a '65 model future and it was stepped through back in the 80's. We built a new one out of mahogany to fit the opening. I've never looked for a replacement but the stained and varnished hatch cover fits right in and looks better.

We have an after-market hatch that was installed sometime in the 90s (maybe). It fits pretty well as non-original equipment.

Thanks for the ideas. Seems I may be over thinking my repairs (And, apologies for not responding earlier...my computer was in worse shape than the boat)
