Parting out

Post by aliwildatwork » Sun Sep 25, 2011 7:54 am

I'm parting out a 66 Cavalier that is 25 feet long, I was fortunate enough to have gotten a very good deal on it and now am even more fortunate since my engine is toast and the engine on the parts boats is very good. Does anyone have any advice for hard to find pieces I should look for? Obviously I will take all the chrome, and name plates, hinges, door handles, bronze fittings, prop, prop shaft etc but for instance I found the original hull drain plug and was very excited...IS anyone looking for something special? Anyone need a bimini and full enclosure?

Hey Ali,
I might be interested in the bimini. Not so much the supports for it just the canvas. Also what about the cover on the bow that matches the bimini? Selling or keeping? Just curious all depends on the cost as things are tight these days. I can't really think of anything else since my boat still has all her original stuff. By the way are you sure it's 25 looks longer to me closer to 27 like mine.
Thanks,
Kristian

Mark, she was a single screw, using the engine on ours as we just blew the old one, I'm not exactly sure except that the plates say 283, 185hp, and the block is the 3970010. I've posted pics in the Uh Oh thread on Hull Construction, my old engine isn't completely seized but bad on the lower end, slipped a bearing or bent a rod...not sure. It's an auto block 350. the exhaust manifolds are good, the risers, lots of goodies left...

The propshaft holders under keel. Would take both for fair price. What props size is mounted?

I am interested in the exterior cockpit panels. These are the panels upon which the name is mounted. Can you give me the approximate size and the asking price?

Thanks

I am looking for the starboard windshield opener gadget that you push and lock to open and hold open the windshield.

I'm not sure if your boat even has that and if it does I might need measurements because the boat I want it for is a 36ft boat, so they may be different.

I also have a friend who is interested in the hinge & latch sets from the Taff Rails around the stern. That is if they are corrosion free...

I'll be on my boat for the weekend, so please forward and response, both here and to my email.

Thanks

I am missing one of the braces for my windshield on my challenger, it is a piece of pipe maybe 16" long that has caps on both ends that screw into the dash and the windshield, if you think you have one I can take a picture to make sure.

Yes John, we have met years ago when I lived in Powhatan and was involved with the rescue squad there.

We have not met surrounding anything Chris-Craft related, yet! :-)

If you have any pics of the gauges? Switches? I may need them.
