Plywood inner planking

Post by JimF » Fri Feb 04, 2022 8:15 pm

I have been talking with a guy that has a 17' 1953 Sportsman. It appears that it has plywood inner planking. I was under the impression that plywood inner planking did not begin until later like 55-56. Would this be original?

Hi Jim,

For reference my 1953 Rocket had original bottom plywood (along with canvas and planks).

Pattern is shown in the photo.

I would think the sportsman would be the same as the Rocket as the hulls are the same - the Rocket is decked over.
