help... who knows what about...

Post by dragonfly » Thu Dec 17, 2009 1:10 pm

Good morning folks. It seems my wife has become enamored w/ small glass cruisers, IE:Dorsetts,Skagitts etc. Does anyone have info on a 16', 1964/65 Lone Star cruiser. She has located one for $800.00,and we can't seem to find any info on these things. However, this thing is cute as a button. Please let me know. Thanks, Pete

Marty Loken at Island Boat Shop here in the Puget Sound knows a lot about fiberglassic boats. I'm sorry I don't have his contact info at hand. Try a Google search for "Island Boat Shop, Washington".

pulled the trigger!

Post by dragonfly » Sun Dec 20, 2009 10:35 pm

Thank you for all the info it is appreciated and will be used. My wife and I pulled the trigger and bought the little red and white Lone Star, She will need some major and minor work. My wife has her scheme all set for the inside and I have a ton of work to refresh all the wood accents and replace the transom. I do hear from different sources that the transom is either a not so bad fix or you'd rather be in hell fix. We'll see. I'll keep y'all posted, thanks again, Peter

Peter - Here is a good story related to a fiberglass runabout transom repair that you may find interesting.

The forum section is Fin-Attics and the author is Restofish. I have been following this story also, as I am faced with a similar transom repair on my 1959 Red Fish Sea Shark 17'.

Tons of information about small classic aluminum and fiberglass express and pocket cruisers can be found at www.bigfinboats.com, www.fiberglassics.com, www.theclassicboathouse.com

The Pacific Northwest group (formerly part of fiberglassics.com have many such boats in their ranks.

There may even be a Lone Star Boat group somehwere out there.

I just read through this post and wanted to send in a compliment to everyone who posted.

You guys may not think so, but you are great. Here we have a fellow enthusiast asking valid questions about an aluminum Lone Star on the Fiberglass Section of the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club web site, and you all treat him like a fellow boater, with respect and due deference. I have seen quite the contrary in the past (elsewhere).

Thank you for making this a web site that makes me happy I link to it, and refer people to with a recommendation to join on a daily basis. The tone is refreshing and classy. Good stuff.

Sincerely, regards,
