My restored 18 1948 Sportsman has a forward bulkhead made out of particle board which is falling apart and looks like...Crap!
Is this orginal to the boat or was the bulkhead was only half way up and not cheap particle board?
Thanks!

It is original and called fiber board. We get the stuff from Menard’s and then paint it white for insides of engine boxes or whatever color needed for bulkheads or behind the seats to engine compartments.

Thanks so much for the information. My previous 48 17 Deluxe did not have it. Must have been removed at some point.

She has a fresh K95 put in this fall and fresh varnish. I have not had her in the water. Loved my Deluxe but let her go 17 years ago and was never happy. Thanks again!

I decided to replace the particale board forward bulkhead with 1/4 ply. 4 coats of enamel looks much better.
