carb wedges for chrysler hemi (m 45)

Post by keithandkerry » Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:22 pm

I am totally rebuilding 1956 cc capri 21 ft Now working new deck beams, hatches and deck. This boat was built with 2 hatches, rather than 1 big one. Would like to add wedges under the two one barrel carburetors to increase efficiency of carbs. The problem is I have a height problem under the hatches if I proceed. Any suggestions? Has there been issues with these carburetors with no wedges based on installation angle of the engine of 15 degrees? Thanking you in advance and looking forward to replies. Keith

Assuming your capris is as original with the hemi I think it would be safe to expect it to perform fine without intake mods. Performance may very well improve with wedges, but given how special your Capris is, I would be reluctant to modify the hatch from original. If you are determined, however, I would consider a large version of the deck vents to cover a carb clearance hole in the hatch. Hopefully only one carb will need clearance.

Hi Greg we are on the exact same thought process. will have the aft deck beams completed by noonish today and will then start on hatches. will have to determine soon if one hatch or two. I am looking for a deck vent that is on my original drawing for a Cadillac engine (#1218) That would keep it looking original. thanks for the response
