Production #'s for '29 26' Runabout

Post by Oberon01 » Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:26 am

I was wondering if anyone knows how many of these boats were built, and more specifically model 7's, which had the A 70. It seems that production numbers for most other Chris Craft boats are well known, but in this case I have not been able to find any numbers for 1929 alone. I have both Conrad's and Rodengen's books and Conrad's does not break out the years for the 26' Runabout built in the 20's.

Thanks.

Paul,

Terry Fiest has all of the hull card data for the 1929 26s.

Also,

If it helps, I can tell you that there were 117 28' runabout models (sedans included) for 1929.

Jerry Conrad's book has the count off for some models. He knows this, but says himself "nobody's perfect".

For example, the actual number of 19' barrelbacks built was 393, not 425 like the book shows. And only 180 28' runabouts were built (sedans included), not 201. Sometimes there were gaps in the numbering sequence at year model breaks.

I would be interested to know the same on the 1929 24' Model 3. Thanks Dean

Production Numbers

Post by tuobanur » Wed Aug 20, 2008 9:11 am

Would it be possible for me to find the production numbers on my boat? The reason I'm asking is that I don't see many, if any, at boat shows or even in all the pictures posted on different sites, makes me think that there wasn't many.

A book written by Jerry Conrad of the Mariners Museum. Has most of the production stats for Chris-Craft
