Yes! We're up from 28 below zero. This is actual temp. Wind chill is down around 60 below zero. We're supposed to hit a high of -8 today!
Lets go boating!

Balmy and 65 here today in San Antonio. BTW, I went to the Chandlery and everything on the opening page was $100.00. Even the baseball cap! I thought for a second there I was shopping at Sams's (I call it the 100 dollar club).

-9 here this morning. I came home for lunch and was delighted to see my first issue of The Brass Bell in the mailbox. What an amazing magazine, it's like a luxury car catalog or brochure, first class material. I must give Bill and his team props, no pun intended. I was glad to see the comment that the club was getting younger as a whole. I would guess that by being just over the 30 mark, I would be one of the younger members. My brother in-law and I purchased a '69 Cavalier Ski Boat after looking at it online and "thinking about it" for several months. The thing that prompted us to drive over 300 miles to purchase it was that the previous owner posted a couple of ads for components of the boat. The engine and transmission was for sale, as was the dash and gauges. We decided that we could not let one of the one hundred boats produced in 1969 be parted out, never to be "matching" or "correct" ever again. We plan to restore her over the next couple of years as a nice classic glass user. Hopefully in the not so distant future, we may be able to get into the wooden boat arena also. I am very impressed with the incredible amount of knowledge and detail found on this site. I am even more impressed with the quality of The Brass Bell magazine I received today. Thanks Bill!

Andy, you are one of our diapered members. That is great for this Club, and great for the hobby. Thanks for getting involved.
And thank you also for your comments about The Brass Bell. If I could just improve the timeliness of delivery, we'd be batting a thousand. We are very proud of the magazine, though.
Also, I have personally been looking recently at a 1969 Cavalier Ski. I have one located. I have a serious case of the "I wants."
These are great boats, high performance with tons of modern style for their day. They'll even hold their own today.

Thanks for the reply Bill. I wanted to let you know that I recently purchased a 1969 Chris Craft Sport Boat Catalog on ebay. It includes the Lancers, the first XK's and the 17' Ski. If you would want to add it to the archive, I could mail it to you to scan. It is in perfect shape and pretty cool.

Andy & Ryan, I would swear that I have a Sport Boat Catalog for 1969, but in looking for it recently, I did not lay my hands on it. If your offer is still good to put yours out on loan, I would certainly take you up on it. You find my mailing address on the back cover of the Brass Bell. We typically scan and return the same day.
Thanks.
Thanks.

what did you say?
I actually had to read this two or three times... did you say it was sixteen(16) degrees and you went kkkkayaking! Surely there is some type of professional help you can seek in LI. Phone a friend, call your congressman, call some body , but for the love of god, do something. I know we all have our interests and hobbies, but 16 and kayaking. You"re a far braver man than I, Richard my friend. My teeth are gonna be chattering all d**n day!

Bill,
In response to your earlier case of the "I wants", the 1969 Cavalier Ski Boat that was featured in February 2008 Boating World magazine is for sale on Craigslist in the Minneapolis area. See link.

It has new power, not original but an extra 90 ponies can't hurt![/url]
