NEW Trading Dock Moves Closer to Prime Time

Post by Bill Basler » Wed Nov 22, 2006 9:42 pm

Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club Members:

Some time back, we mentioned that we were hard at work developing a more robust online Trading Dock. Many of you indicated that you would like to be able to post photos, conduct searches, receive email notifications, and so forth.

I am pleased to announce that we have made considerable process on the development of this new online system. The new Trading Dock site can be found at:

http://www.tradingdock.org

PLEASE NOTE: This is an advance notice to Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club members only. The new Trading Dock site is still under development, and enhancements are being made daily.

The new Trading Dock has significant advancements over our prior text-based system. The new site has the following features:
  • 1. You can place your ad in categories that you choose.
    2. Manage your ad yourself, including posting your ad immediately, without any lag time. You also determine how long you want your ad posted, and remove your ad from the online listings with a few simple mouse clicks.
    3. Your ad can contain a very long text description. You are no longer limited to forty words per ad.
    4. Your ad can contain up to six photos.
    5. Once your ad is posted, you will see an "ad counter" indicating how many times your ad has been viewed. This will help you determine how appealing your offer is, and whether you need to consider altering the information to receive more attention.
    6. Your personal information, including email address is hidden on the new Trading Dock site. This will keep spammers at arm's length and keep your privacy in tact.
    7. Prospective buyers can contact you via www.tradingdock.org, but they will do so via several links, Tell-A-Friend, Contact Seller, Add to Favorites, Seller's Other Ads. You personal information is kept hidden in all of these links.
    8. Your ads are keyword searchable. We will soon be enhancing www.tradingdock.org to include a zip code search.
    9. Trading Dock Ads are FREE.
Please take advantage of this advance notice to familiarize yourself with the new online Trading Dock. Post your ads...In fact post as many as you would like. But, please be patient as we continue to work a few of the kinks out. As you post your ads, you will become an active part in building traffic to this site. There is a bit of science behind building this site traffic, but our goal is to have tradingdock.org the most visited online classifieds on the internet.

Also note that because www.tradingdock.org is a free online classifieds site, the club is merely facilitating contact between buyers and sellers. We are not a part of the sales transaction. We do not take a commission or brokerage fee.

On your first visit to www.tradingdock.org, you will need to register as a new online user. For those of you who are active on Boat Buzz, and for those who use PayPal for dues renewals, you can use your same login name and password that you use for other Club functions.

As we work on driving more traffic to this new Trading Dock site, we will continue to host and maintain the old boat listing pages on the Club site. As we migrate all of those listings to the new Trading Dock site, we will solidify the links to the new site and we will be very active in promoting the new Trading Dock. For those of you who have a listing on the current "Boats for Sale" pages ( http://www.chris-craft.org/BFSB.html ), please help us out by migrating your information over to the new Trading Dock as soon as possible.

Thank you all. I hope the new system works wonders for you all.

New Trading Dock site

Post by Bill Basler » Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:54 pm

The new tradingdock.org site is starting to get a bit more polished. Thanks to all of you early advertisers. Your input has been greatly appreciated, and we have been able to implement nearly all of the suggestions we have received.

Of interest to potential advertisers. Within just a few weeks, tradingdock.org is now the number one Google search result when searching for trading dock (two words), and tradingdock (one word).

We are now a third page search result when searching for "free marine classifieds" up from a 30th page result just a week or so ago.

I expect this trend to continue, and as it does, it we will continue to enhance tradingdock.org, making it the place to list your boats, parts or "wants."

Thanks again for testing the waters with this new site. We look forward to making it work for all of you.

Trading Dock Update

Post by Bill Basler » Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:04 pm

The new online Trading Dock is getting more attention by the day. Currently, the site is receiving over 1,000 page views a day and growing in traffic rapidly. I am also encouraged that there are boats on the new Trading Dock that I have never seen before...they appear to be new to the online marketplace.
