Free 1960 Bullnose Chris

Post by Bill Basler » Mon Oct 23, 2006 10:29 pm

At the risk of posting a for sale listing here, the Club received an email from a gent in Maryland today wanting to find a home for an old Chris-Craft Cruiser. I hope this flies under the buy/sell radar as the price for this one is....free.

Hey there,

I'm Captain Dave Hopkins and I live in Maryland, just outside of
Washington DC. I was on a transfer the other day when I ran accross
this boat.

I love the old woodies, and hate to see them going like this. I
would like to have it for myself, but Im not in a position to take on
another restoration project.

The marina owners want this boat gone, and are planning on cutting it
up and putting it in a dumpster or 2. They dont want any money for
it, it's free to anyone that will take it away.

I did a quick survey and the hull is sound, the engines are complete,
and they said they ran 2 years ago quite well. It's not taking on
any water either. There is minor rot in 2 places of the cabinets on
the interior but none in the hull (that i can see). It's floating
and would tow quite well Im certain. The rudders seem to be free and
functioning as well.

There is a great fiberglass hard top accross the entire back deck,
and all of the original deck fixtures seem to be in place and water
tight.

The deck is solid and so is the top. All of the hand rails and
safety wires are still in place and tight.

So my question is this,

Do you have anyone, or know of anyone that would like this boat. FOR
FREE..

Finally, this is not a joke.... I just hate to see it butcherd.

Captain Dave..

I believe that is a 1958, 36' (or so) cruiser. We have a very close relative of her in our marina. Wasn't '59 the final year for the bullnose? Would love help to save her but she's not in my neck of the woods nor in the budget.

Hey FLICKA, this one would go great with your collection. She has a nice aft cabin (with head), a large open salon/galley (step down to galley) and a cozy v-birth (with another head), large aft deck/helm and teak decks everywhere.

Same here. If she was close to me I would probably try to save her and incur the wrath of my wife as I have a few rescued boats already and need to sell one of them.

The good thing about this boat, gentleman, is that when your wife finds out about it you still have a place to live!!
