Mine arrived today at my alternative address in the White Mountains of Arizona. Both were intact but the lower right hand corner of the wrapper was split open. Both already read cover to cover. WELL DONE Bill et al.

Is it possible to purchase an additional copy? I have a 1949 Custom and I really liked the article and would like a second copy.

I got mine too... Absolutely beautiful, thank you.
A question about the article by Al in the spring issue and Brain in the summer issue... They both show a b&w shot of a dealership in 1946, and Al's says it's somewhere in Portland, OR while Brian's says it is Bryants Marina in Seattle.
They both sure look like the same place to me, and I'm wondering if it really is Bryants or not. That third boat from the right is my boat (2 years older though), and my hull card says it was shipped to Bryants Marina in Seattle. If so, even though it's 2 years off, it's very cool to see what my boat looked like sitting in the exact showroom it was shipped to.
Again, outstanding work on the BB's... Much more than mere magazines.

Bobby, I think I can answer this...and the answer illustrates how the gathering of knowledge on all of these issues is ongoing.
Back in the time that Al wrote his article, we knew we had an excellent B&W photo in our archive that would show an original showroom correct post war 17-foot Deluxe. In fact, we had a couple of opportunities to shed light on post war Deluxe research, as we had acquired a couple batches of photos just prior. One batch was from a Knights Boats and Motors, a Chris-Craft dealership in Jacksonville, Florida. The other photos came from the Pacific Northwest...that's about all we knew at the time. The club purchased these photos off of eBay. The only knowledge we had was on the eBay description that the seller wrote which said, "I believe these are from the Pacific Northwest."
In viewing the photo, several noted the PYC pennants handing on the back wall, and put two pieces of info together—"I'll bet this could be Portland." At that time, it was a best guess, thus the caption says, "believed to be Portland."
A couple of months later, we secured another photo from eBay. Ironically, it was from the same dealership! It may have even been a different eBay seller (I can't recall). This photo was the exterior of the same dealership that we had collected prior.
This time we could see enough of the neon sign outside of the dealership to determine, with the help of Chris-Craft dealer records, that this was Bryant's Marina in Seattle.
In a perfect world we would have gone back in and recaptioned the prior photo, but that issue was already off press and waiting to be mailed.
I love this story. First, these photos give us all a really interesting view of how these boats were retailed. Note the Aquaplanes on the right wall of the Bryant's Marina photo.
Also, it is proof that we are all making our best, educated guesses about any of these issues, based on what information we have collected over time. Some details of these boats are getting very well documented. Others not so much. In this case, the dealership is truly Bryant's Marina in Seattle, WA.

Wow, wow, wow, very cool. Thanks for the explanation. I'm new to all this, so maybe you could give me any tips on how I would go about tracing my boats purchase history. I do have the packet from MM (that's how I got the hull card), but it would be great to see where my boat went after it left that showroom, who owned it, for how long, etc. I looked on the web for Bryant’s Marina in Seattle and came up with a couple things but nothing to point any direction except that it looks as if it was in the Shilshole area by Ballard. I don’t know that for sure though.
Should I post that question in a different area?
Thanks again. New to this and totally hooked.

I received just the plastic sleeve w/ only the paper insert w/ my address in it. Major disappointment . Called the P.O. said they will check lost and found, not expecting to hear from them.

Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.
