1958 Sea Skiff hull number

I am the proud and happy owner of a ‘58 Sea Skiff 25’ Hardtop. The factory identification badge/plate is missing or is located in an unknown location. I have also been unsuccessful in locating the hull number…I believe it should be on one of the stringers. Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nice looking boat there! You might find the hull number on the edge of an engine hatch, or stamped on the bottom edge of the cabin door. Pull off any interior wood trim pieces and look on the back.

My cruiser is stamped in a couple of places. One is on the hatches for the engine and also look on the bottom of your floorboards. Dig a round, you should find it.

I have found a number stamped to the bottom of the mahogany cabin door.
26SF119
I don’t know if this is a hull number or just a production number for cabin doors on similar size/model boats.
I don’t have an essential guide so any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is it. The 26 indicates the length, the SF I assume stands for Skiff, and the 119 is the production sequence number. According to the guide they produced 204 hulls between 1957-1959.

Just a side note. I own a Sea-Skiff. It was sold to me as a 1959 26' boat. The Mariners Museum was closed at the time. I sent the title in and had it changed to my name in Illinois where I lived at the time. When the Museum opened I ordered the hull card package and it came back as a 1957 25'7" boat. I sent the documentation in to the state and had it changed. They didn't count the inches in the length and it came back as a 25' boat. Didn't think much of it till it came time to renew the registration and the price break was at 25-26'. As a 25' boat the registration the fee was $100 less than a 26' boat. :D :D

Thanks Everyone! This has been very helpful. I’d like to secure a replacement hull card seeing as I’ve been unable to find mine.
What is the best way to acquire a new card?
