22' Chris Craft Sea Skiff Cradle help.

Post by DennyDowning » Sun Aug 18, 2019 1:13 pm

I did it. Could not help myself. I bought a beautiful turn key Chris Craft 22' Sea Skiff. She looks nice in the stable. I am going to build a under carriage lift and have no idea of where she should be supported. I sure do not want to hurt her. An ideal help would be the Original Chris Craft specifications for building a shipping cradle. The season is shortening and I would like to get this done. If someone could give me help it would be much appreciated.

Jim... You always come through.

I discovered it is a lot of effort to do as all three cross members at the rear must be profiled to fit the bottom. Even covered with plywood so it is almost like a cradle table.

I may be over thinking this. Do I understand that the boat can be lifted and kept summer's hanging above the water in the lifting rings. I would block her up in the winter. I would leave her in the water in the boathouse but we are to close to the river and she would likely get roughed up. She sits fine on the sea wall using whips.

I digress.

Thank you Mr. Staib again. You have helped perhaps more then you know. Thoughts on hanging her in the boathouse by the lifting rings?

Certainly no need to lift her high. I would still need a cradle for winter or just leave her hang. I love this boat.

I tried posting a picture but... resolution to high? I will try again. Had her out several times now. I am recognizing how much she likes being tied up to the sea wall. She rides real nice there with her whips and lines. I am thinking she likes it better floating there then she would hanging by her lift rings. Is she taken to me? I still have room in the boathouse to winter store her; hanging by lift rings with a little support under the keel. So.... I will post a picture or two if I can. I have decided against building a cradle. Perhaps in the future but not necessary as lifting rings will work excellent for me. Thank You All. Jim, I am keeping a copy of the shipping crate plans. Awesome...

Okay I tried adding a picture it said file size 3.3 mb and loaded saying status was green but never changed and never loaded. I will try again later.
