Unfortunately, that has been a problem here on and off for a while. i am not encountering it anymore, but when i did, i had to keep relogging in, and after several attempts, the attachments would show up. ?

Re: K, KFL, Runabout, Costum Runabout, Runabout deluxe..?

thanks, i am glad this has been helpful. You are asking questions that are getting outside of my limited expertise, so perhaps there are others who can be helpful here. Off the top of my head, i am not sure where exactly the engine number is but i think it was part of the casting. somewhere on the t...

Re: K, KFL, Runabout, Costum Runabout, Runabout deluxe..?

one more point of clarification. the boat serial number had 2 components, the model designation, and then the second part was the particular boat made in that series. for example. the D17 part designated the model ( in this case the 1956-58 17' runabout.)The second part, in your case the 1083, meant...

Re: K, KFL, Runabout, Costum Runabout, Runabout deluxe..?

right. you can also search the archive here in the club website to see what materials might be available that specifically relate to this particular model. the thought also occurs to me that I believe the motor number was on the hull card and stamped on the engine block when made. If that is the sam...

Re: K, KFL, Runabout, Costum Runabout, Runabout deluxe..?

this is an interesting story, Laurits. According to the conrad book (he formerly worked at the mariners' museum where the cc records are kept and has written a fairly definitive account of the various models), Hulls D-17-1001 to D-17-1094 were for the 1956 model year 17' "runabout." It was not chara...

sorry that didnt work. I am probably the last guy you would want to get computer advice from. But try the box at the bottom that says "attachments." at least for me that goes directly to my picture files. good luck!

Re: New Owner 1963 17' Chris-Craft Ski Boat

Great. when you hit reply and type a response, there is a bar above the space for typing. the 9th box over has a icon that looks like a mountain and the sun. click on that and then upload the picture. we would love to see what you have. in the late 50's and early 60's cc was a little slow in trying ...

Re: New Owner 1963 17' Chris-Craft Ski Boat

welcome, cool boat. Just to expand on mike's comments a bit. Here is my understanding. boats with those serial numbers, according to the Conrad book, were the 1962 model year (not necessarily construction year) 16ft. ski boat. CC followed the auto custom. In this case for example, building the 62 mo...

Re: So I Went to a Vintage European Car Swap Meet and Ended Up with This ...

Great find. I assume this is planned for your '36 runabout? I think however, that this particular gauge with the cc facing was used after cc went to the individual gauge arrangement starting with the '40 custom. (someone can correct me if this is not completely the case.) With the gauges in a gauge ...

Re: Trying to acquire a 1957 46 foot constellation

I think it would be a wonderful thing to help preserve such a great classic. Obviously it is a large endeavor, and one needs to enter into a project like this with one's eyes wide open. I am glad there are those out there doing this so we have at least some of these neat cruisers still around. Also ...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

no i dont think so. I think matt was referring to paul harrison's 1940 Satin Doll, originally restored for Dick Werner. I am not sure if that one needed more work. only in the water overnight i guess. It had been originally restored with white deck seams, if i recall correctly, so not sure if there ...

Thanks, Mike, excellent information and photos. do you know when cc went from the 5 spoke to 4 spoke banjo steering wheel on the custom? I believe at least in '39 it was still a 5 spoke?

can't seem to find it immediately. also a topic under "research related." pre war dash and gauge research. some discussion about the different gauges. seems to suggest the 19 went to separate gauges sometime in the later 1939 model year? also seems to suggest maybe blue was before tan or silver gaug...

No it was for real. but i gather there was some marketing resistance and it may have been discontinued at some pt? I was just looking in the archive. there is a color picture of one taken at a midwest lake in national geographic around 1940. If i can find it i will post.

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

thanks, I certainly understand why the 39 /40 is to be preferred over the 41/42 because of windshield and bow treatment. I do believe the 39 had individual gauges, mainly silver, (but not sure when blue background came in).( edit: I think this is true only later. I gather now that the 39 started out...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

Is there some reason you are focused on 1940. My impression is that the orange striping, etc. was not limited to 1940 if that is the reason, but perhaps someone can give us a definitive answer on that score?

Mike, it appears the screw heads are aligned in an X rather than a +. Since i have slotted screws on my boat, i hadnt noticed what people do with frearson type screws. Is the X position more or less standard?

im sure it can be arranged. I think oxi clean may have hydrogen peroxide like clorox 2? I would be afraid that chlorine bleach would attack the fibers of the threads but if that is what they recommend, i guess they know.

not sure bleach is a good idea. what about clorox 2? in any event, worth a call to sunbrella to see what they suggest. they advertise in the ccabc brass bell so good to thank them while you are at it!
