Mark,
Great idea! Curious...what does he charge? And will he do business via email and UPS? Thanks

Hey John, Good catch! I had actually visited this sight looking for this trim but given the way it's illustrated passed right over it. Great to know it's still available. I am checking with a local metal fabricator who has a boat in our marina to see if he could make it up. I did some cursory measur...

Someone on here had found zinc plated versions of the nails and I saw a package of them in my local "ACE" hardware store. I think they are used in upholstery work? I have decided to go the tiny stainless screw route like the ones on the front windows. If for some reason I have to remove the trim it ...

Well, I am late to the party I see but here's bad pic of the profile. I would love to have in in stainless!!! Re-plating would be expensive and probably would not last very long overall. Mine are all flat as well! Yes, Please share the details on cost, shipping, etc. Thanks Randman http://img41.image...

Window Trim
Hello All, Does anyone have a source for the flat stock with the rolled edge that dresses up wood edges around window openings on cruisers? The were chromed originally I believe. I'd be happy to find them in any material other than chrome if necessary. This is the trim that uses those spiral nails t...

Fuel Delivery Problem
Greetings all, I have read through old posts looking for a similar problem and got some ideas but need some assistance still. Let me start with the history.. About a year ago I replaced both of Graco fuel filters on my '65 Connie. Shortly after that neither engine (Lincoln 431) would start even afte...

Transmissions
Hi all, I am repeating part of a previous post because I received no replies about my tansmission question. I am guessing that it was over looked as I am certain someone would know the answer. Here it is again. I have two spare Lincoln/CC 431'sengines that I had planned to use for parts. However I a...

Hi Dick, I haven't done the Nautolex replacement yet but have done all the substrate preparation. The plywood cabin top on my 43' Constellation cruiser was laid in two pieces then butted against the fiberglass of the molded seat. It was an never ending source of leaks. I first took a hand planer cut...

Gents, At the risk of stepping out of my league a bit I will make an observation. First the Brass Bell is a beautiful, well done magazine in the ranks with Architectural Digest. Both occupy a spot on my coffee table with none other. However, as an advertiser I would not be pleased to have paid to ad...

Hey Geoff, Try the village of Skaneateles, NY. Its an old upscale resort like Main Street right on the edge of the Lake of the same name. At the municipal pier you can catch an old wood tour boat or more interesting...the equally old mail boat. The mail boat takes tourists and US Mail to Lake reside...

Engine disassembly and transmission questions
Hello Everyone, I finally decided to tackle the exhaust manifold leak on one of my Lincoln/CC 431's. I have two spare engines that I use for parts. I figured that simply removing the bolts would not cause the pieces to come apart did have to coax the exhaust flange off with a few taps with a hammer....

You assume correctly that I wouldn't necessarily do the work myself but I am willing to learn. Having said that I need someone who can go over the engines and pinpoint the deficiencies and recommend repairs possibly completing some of them. I need someone who is willing to come to the boat versus br...

Gents, Thank you for the information. Just as an FYI, the original drip edge had a vinyl strip in a channel that covered the screws. Very classy and typically Chris Craft. I looked on the web for hours and came up with nothing even close. Al's suggestion was the best by far and yes I will let you kn...

Aluminum Drip Edge
Greetings all,
I pulled the drip edge on my pilot house roof in preparation for painting the roof. Roofs done and looks great. However, the j channel drip edge is pretty beat up and I would like to replace it if possible. Anyone know of a source for this material? Thanks

Metal repair
Dale,
You are right on about repairs with Wade. However for those that need it, Cambridge Custom Chome, http://www.custom-chrome.com/ will do metal repairs. Pricier than wade but outstanding show quality workmanship.

Shipping Confidence
Al, I have spent thousands on plating for my Connie and both transactions were via mail with no difficulties. The only challenge I had was getting the first batch through Canadian Customs. I had used a firm that had a drop off/pick up point in Buffalo. They had no problem transporting them into Cana...

In boats that size the purchasers could often pick from several options of interior stain. Al is correct...your friend needs the hull card for that boat to determine what was chosen by the purchaser or by the dealer if it was for the "show room". Check the archives for previous discussions on this t...

Rodger, You would only use acetone to wipe down the teak before varnishing which you could do to dress up the boat for sale. Wipe the teak with a rag dampened with acetone after you sand. Jamestown distributors sells a couple of teak kits from $35 to $45 plus shipping. Both kits have the cleaners an...

Boat Bugs
My boat appears to be hosting some kind of bug. The are tromping mostly in the areas where I have not yet conquered leaks. They are very small, about the size of a pin head and look very beetle like. They don't look at all like the photos of termites I have seen online while researching this topic. ...
