If you have a Fein Multi Master they make a blade specifically designed to remove caulk from the deck. It works well.

Connect an intake hose to the water pump on you engine and put the other end into a 5gal bucket. Run a garden hose into the 5 gal bucket so you have a constant water supply. You might also consider putting a little Marvel Mystery Oil into each of the cylinders and cranking it over without the igniti...

I was skeptical myself. Someone gave me a video and told me to watch it. It sat on my shelf for 3yrs because I thought it would never work. In desperation I decided to watch it, gave it a try, and was amazed at how easily it bent the plank into the shape of the hull; especially at the forward curve....

I have used the insulation technique for the bottom planks but what works even better is a steam iron. I was skeptical at first but have found that for bottom planks a steam iron is the fastest and easiest way. Soak the planks for a day or so first then place a wet towel on top of the board add iron...

In addition to Craig's list, you may have to raise your floor. The Detroits are are going to be taller than your 454's.

I use a similar set up to Bjorn with Frost King insulation you buy in Home Depot to wrap heating ducts. This allows you to bend the boards right in place.

Should the floor of my 16' Gar Wood Split Cockpit be made of Mahogany or Pine. The current floor appears to be white pine and original but I'm not sure.

Question about the underside of the decks; Should they be painted or just sealed with CPES. On my Chris Craft they were never painted but it looks like on the Gar Wood they have the old original green color.

It is likely that the rubber diaphragm in your fuel pump is worn out and letting gas pass through into the oil. The ethanol in today’s gas is hard on the rubber. You can buy rebuild kits from Classic Boat Connection.

Check the routing of the cable. Mine too was binding; the problem was I had too sharp a curve in the cable going from the dash back to the engine. Try finding a path that eases the curve in the cable.

They are scupper holes that allow water to drain from the cockpit. There should be a rubber hose that connects the scupper to the drain under your seats.
