The title is "Woman motorboat stunt driver" I'm not sure that is a woman. Maybe they thought was because of the boat name is "Miss Gar Wood"

Bill,

Keep the pictures coming, I'm right behind you on the bottom replacement. I have all the inner bottom fit and temperary stapled on the boat. This weekends project it to take it all off, seal with CPES and then glue back down with 5200.

I'm not positive but I think there is an association that dictates what the docks look like. They are made from wood and all have the same design. And yes they are numbered to identify each property. It’s amazing how many woody’s there are on Lake Geneva. There is one company that takes them in and ...

The show is shaping up to be a great event. The in-water slips are full but we’re working on getting some more to be made available. We have a great variety of boat coming this year. Visit www.GenevaLakesBoatShow.com/entries.aspx to see the list of boats (some with pictures). The weather for the las...

Gar Wood in movies

My kids watched "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" the other day and low and behold it has a Gar Wood in it. Below is a link to a clip of the movie. It's a big file > 10MB. Check it out.

I can't wait, 11 days and counting. The boat is almost ready for Florida, I pulled the it out of storage this weekend to do a little prep work on it . Hopefully it still runs, it didn’t see the water last year. I'm waiting until next weekend to fire it up and avoid any chance of cold weather. My wif...

The same trailer came with a boat I bought. I thought the same thing, homemade, but if you look in Real Runabouts III there is a section on early trailer manufactures and that trailer is pictured.

Restoration Progress

The Gar Wood section has been very quiet so I thought I post a couple of pics on my progress. I took a couple of weeks off around the holidays and got some "quality" time on the boat. I have the framing complete, new stem and gripe fit, new keel with rabbit cut and the chines are steam bent waiting ...

Mystery Holes in Stem

I remove the Stem assembly this weekend and noticed 2 extra holes in the Stem (see pic). The 2 holes go all the way through and are plugged on the outside. I’m 99% sure this is the original Stem, did the factory use these for something? Why are they there? http://www.postimage.org/aV_o5d9.jpg [/img]

Bill,

I was planning on visiting CR this weekend to visit my dad for fathers day. He called yesterday and said to stay home, lot of roads closed making it difficult to even get to the area. Bill hope you stay dry.

I had the same problem, ended up using a puller but the trick is to find a bolt that will slip into the inner tube to press against. If you using a puller that has a pointed tip take a punch and center punch the boat first so the puller will nor walk all over when aplying preasure.
