Re: Facebook CC Website
All good comments, but I still don't see a workable solution. Maybe bflaherty is on the right track though. I know that doing nothing will probably lead to a slow, painful death of the CCABC website. Like many, I am pretty much done with my (current) restoration, but I wouldn't think of not renewing...

Facebook CC Website
I notice that the last post post here was on 5/24, over a week ago. It seems that the majority of those who used to post here have moved over to the FB site. Personally I am sad to see this trend as there is no way to archive the Q&A's on FB like we do here. This site has been a great source of info...

Re: Tempo Fuel Filter Cartridge to Match Mount
I agree with that....... partially. That would reduce the chance of a small piece of tape breaking off into the fuel system possibly clogging the fuel pump. But, I have also read that the regular teflon tape will degrade with time if it is in contact with gas so it could cause a problem on down the ...

Re: Tempo Fuel Filter Cartridge to Match Mount
I am not at all familiar with this set up, but am I incorrect in thinking that the teflon tape should not be used on gas connections??

Removing varnish runs???
IMG_2126.JPG The guy who last restored my Slick Craft evidently didn't see fit or have time to tape off the painted area on the lower part of the hull from the varnished wood part...... I am pretty sure there is no magic bullet for getting the yellowish varnish off the white paint, but just thought...

How to repaint the deck stripes
not-specified-premiere-16-830294[2].jpg I am considering stripping the white accent paint (not as originally built) from the deck of my 58 Slick Craft and staining/varnishing those areas as they were intended. In some areas the paint intersects with the stripes that are painted into the grooves on ...

Taylor Made Windshield Questions
This is the windshield on my 58 Slickcraft. I am assuming it's a Taylor Made since that is what Chris Craft was using at the time and the founder of Slickcraft worked previously for CC. Not that it matters much, but what what is the purpose of the two holes, one on each corner of the windshield? I h...

Re: Hull Card Question
Thanks Doug...... I'll check this out. I emailed a guy today at Tiera Yachts and he indicates most all of the early records were destroyed in a fire. He sent me pictures of the one they have displayed in their lobby. It is exact year and model Slick Craft as mine. Mine is hull number 16 and theirs i...

Hull Card Question
I know how to get the hull card for a Chris Craft from the Mariners Museum. Now that I have acquired my 58 Slick Craft I was wondering if their company kept such records and where they could be found. I contacted the Mariners Museum, but their records are of course in storage during the remodeling o...

Re: Gas tank restorayion
A good old style radiator shop will vat the tank to remove all rust and contaminates and line the inside with some sort of protective coating. The charge is reasonable as I recall......... around $100.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
I just wanted to take the time to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY/PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. I joined the club two summers ago after the acquisition of my 58 Cavalier project boat. I had no boating or boat restoration experience and you guys took me in and led me by the hand. My appreciati...
