New Bottom on a Model 5 - transom question

Having a new bottom put on a 1929 Model 5 - after all these years it's about time. Make sure the small hole at the top of the bend is kept open as a siphon break - remember as a kid going down to the boathouse and seeing the boat on the bottom because the hole was clogged!

Unable to locate my old stern pole/light (maybe the racoons got it). Need to get a "new" one and am unsure of proper length.
