xK18 Rudder?

The hull card for my 1971 XK18 states “rudder under seat “. I’m confused because I believe jet boats don’t have rudders. Am I missing something?

I have a 327 Q Motor with the Original Single Point Flat Cap Distributor. I need to replace the ignition points, can someone recommend a good source to find a set of points.

Hot start issue

The 327QA in my XK19 starts fine when cold. On restart with a warm motor, it cranks very slowly, if at all. After cooling for 15 minutes or so, it starts normal again. The original starter was rebuilt four years ago, the battery is new and fully charged. Both battery cable clamps are new. I've looke...

Check out the video of my XK19 on youtube. The filming was done from a 1947 Constellation.

Reproduction XK19 decals

I had some decals made from an original that I removed from my boat. I am very pleased with the results.

Dale Kocian of Kocian Instruments restored the gauges from my XK19. I received them last Friday and they are beautiful. His workmanship exceeded my expectations.

Bill, Thanks, I appreciate your offer. Should I send you a scan of the decal? BTW, I also have an original 1970 XK19 sales brochure. If that's something missing in the archives, I'll be happy to scan it for you. It's similar to the 1969 Commander brochure already in the archives.

XK19 decal

I'm posting a picture of an XK19 decal I salvaged from the side of my boat before it was painted. The boat is a 1970, hull #ORAV190070V The decal is 5.5" wide by 7.75" high. It was mounted between the Chris Craft logo and the bilge pump discharge opening. I've often wondered if this decal could be d...

Thanks for posting the picture, that's just what I needed to see. It looks like we have the same Aqua meter speedometer too.

I noticed yours has the optional railings around the hatches. Does it have the "siesta pad" too?

Some of the hardware on our XKs is chrome plated brass, like the big cleats and exhaust bezels, and other items are chrome over diecast, such as the Chris Craft lettering, vents, step pad frames and bow light. When I had my plating done, I learned that diecast is difficult to plate if the piece is p...

The wood rim wheels are available from Grant Products. I think you will find a new wheel to be less expensive than rechroming and rebuilding an old wheel. The original floor covering in my XK19 was white Nautolex. When I replaced the plywood flooring, which had some soft spots, I recovered with the ...

I finally found an exact replacement steering wheel for my 1970 XK19. Mooneyes.com carries the wheel, and I just got it today. You may have heard of Moon products if you are into hot rods. Funny thing, the wheel came in a Grant Products box, even though Grant does not show the wheel on their website...

Installing speedometer pickup tube on XK19

I recently purchased a vintage Aquameter speedometer for my XK19 which I have mounted on top of the dash. To complete the install, I need to mount the pickup tube on the transom. I would appreciate some advice on the best location. Does it need to be a certain distance from the center of the transom...

My 1970 XK19 has a Super Sport badge on the engine hatch where the trim ring for the ski pole would be if it had one. The boat also has XK19 decals.

I have an original 1970 XK19 sales brochure which states the standard color is burgandy red, with blue bell blue as optional.

My boat is back in the water and running great. They flushed the emulsified oil from the motor and installed the rebuilt manifold. I talked to the mechanic, who told me it appeared the old manifold had cracked in the past and was repaired with JB Weld, which finally gave out. The repair options as I...

water in oil?

My marina has informed me they discovered a crack in the intake manifold where it had been repaired in the past. They found a source in Michigan who can supply a rebuilt intake for $1,100 in exchange for the old one. Is anyone aware of this being a problem on 327s?

Regarding "Subgroups" Future Enhancements to Boat

I would be supportive of any effort to organize a sub-group of Lancer/XK owners. They are unique and well-designed boats. For example, I found a US Patent number on the port bow of my boat, so I got a copy of the patent from the Patent Office. Turns out Jim Wynn, of off-shore racing fame, patented t...

water in oil?

I launched my 1970 XK19 (327QA) for the first time this year, and it started & ran well as usual. I later checked the engine oil level, and it looked like chocolate milk. I assume that water is getting into the oil. I suppose worse case it could be due to a cracked manifold or bad head gasket, but c...
